What Is Curb Appeal?
It’s been said that the three most important things in real estate is location, location and location. But not everyone can live in the most desirable of neighborhoods. Of course they can’t, that’s why it’s expensive. Location may not be on you’re side when buying or selling, but curb appeal can be.
Curb appeal is what a home has when you walk or ride by it and you want look at it and wonder what it looks like inside. Curb appeal is very important when selling your home. Potential buyers see a lot of homes. The outside condition of your home must be attractive enough to make the buyer want to take the time to see it.
The first step is to go out and look at your yard and your neighbors’ yards as well. Use the same objective opinion on your own yard that you have toward your neighbors’. What do you see? Is your grass healthy and green? Has that gutter detached completely from the house? The improvements don’t have to break the bank. Landscaping and structural repairs add major curb appeal. If you don’t have the money for big projects, don’t sweat it, there are small things you can do improve the curb appeal of your property:
-Replace old hardware such as the mailbox, light fixtures and touch-up paint on black shutters with black marker.
-Paint the front door or add a wreath.
-Install outdoor solar powered lights, which have the added benefit of
security.
-Pull any weeds growing in the driveway or walkways.
-Unclutter your porch to make your entryway more inviting.
Curb appeal doesn’t have to include major renovations. Small improvements can add value and beauty to your home whether you’re selling it or you want to enter your neighborhood’s yard of the month contest.
