Cost Of A Home - Mortgage Calculator
The cost of buying a home vary quite a bit based on where you're living. I'm sure you've heard the expression "Location, Loacation, Location!" Well it makes sense in more ways than one.
Assume you are in South Carolina looking for a condo and you find a very nice 2 bedroom with everything you need. Then you find another 2 bedroom condo with the exact same layout on the ocean. Well it's obvious that the condo on the ocean will be worth much more due to the location. That goes for homes in cities, on lakes, on oceans and even on a golf course. It's all about supply and demand on homes in that area at that time.
So if you are moving to a new area and need to buy a home then I recommend looking at a few different things.
1. Talk to your real estate agent about homes that have recently sold. That way y know if you are about to pay too much for your home or condo.
2. Make sure you will be making the same amount of money and check the cost of living compared to your current area. If you are moving from Montana to Boston MA then you will have much higher expenses for food and entertainment.
3. Check the type of real estate that has appreciated the fastest over the last few years. Was it the residencial homes, condos, or lake front property? That would basically mean it's the most popular so you should buy something in that area if possible.
The reason for buying a home is mainly for an investment even if it's your first and only homne you want to own. The reason you're doing it is because it's better than renting over time and eventually you wont have a mortgage payment anymore.
